COMMON PHRASES TO INVITE SOMEONE TO DO SOMETHING

When are you free?

This phrase is used to ask someone when they are available or have a day off in their schedule.

For example:

Tom: Hi Sakura. Long time no see. We should grab coffee sometime and catch up. When are you free?

Sakura: Hey Tom! Long time no see. Sure! Im free on Tuesday afternoon. Is that good for you?

トム: こんにちは サクラ。お久しぶりです。今度、コーヒーでも飲んで話をしようよ。いつなら空いてる?

サクラ: やあ、トム!久しぶり。もちろん!火曜の午後なら空いてるよ。それなら都合がいい?

“Are you free on…?” OR “Are you doing anything on….?”

This phrase is used to ask someone if they are available at a particular date or time.

For example:

Hello Akira, are you free on Friday? I’m having a party at my house. Come by if you’re free.

This phrase is used to politely invite someone to do something with you.

For example:

Would you like to have dinner with me sometime?

今度、一緒に食事でもどうですか?

私と一緒に映画館で映画を観ませんか?

Would you like to get a drink with me on Saturday night?
