COMMON PHRASES WHEN TALKING ABOUT FOOD

Delicious/ Tasty/ Yummy/ finger licking good

All these phrases mean the food tastes great. In Japanese, these words and phrases can be used to mean “美味しい”

For example

The hamburger I just had was delicious!

This curry is very tasty.

The French fries at that restaurant are finger licking good.

To eat out

This means to have a meal at a restaurant. 

For example

I think I’ll eat out tonight. There’s a New Mexican restaurant that just opened close to my house.

Juicy

This means the food is very enjoyable to eat.

For example

The steak we had for dinner was juicy.

I’m starving. 

This phrase can be used to mean you are very hungry.

In Japanese, this means “とてもお腹が空いている”

For example

Mike said he was starving because he didn’t have anything to eat all day.

Take out

Take out is food packaged and eaten away from a restaurant or shop it has been made.

For example

The shop across the street offers take out so we can buy food and have dinner at my place.

Grab a bite

This phrase means to get something to eat.

For example

Let’s grab a bite after work.
